A Private Island in Vanuatu

Bokissa is both isolated and private. From the moment you arrive you will feel a sense of welcome and privacy. It's like being separated from the world by a broad moat of clear turquoise water. The lush, cool and very old beach trees amplify this feeling and beyond them, the natural rainforest is a wilderness inhabited only by rare and exotic birds, coconut crabs, and tall trees decorated with ferns and orchids.

Bokissa Private Island Resort has the finest white sand beach in Vanuatu and it is totally private. In the photo above you can see the clarity of the water and the living coral reefs that are just off the beach. The luxury island resort farés are under the huge, old beach trees you see on the left. Because this is a private island, you won't have dogs or non-guests on the beach with you. Just the occassional sea bird and hermit crabs.

There are also small pocket beaches on the north and east side of the island where you can be totally alone.

Vanuatu is generally a very safe destination everywhere and visitors are always welcomed with sincere Melanesian hospitality. But in almost every other resort you have to be careful with where you leave your shoes, shirts, and dive gear. You don't have to worry about that at Bokissa Private Island Resort.

Bokissa Private Island Resort is free of security and safety concerns found in some other Vanuatu resorts. The staff is almost entirely from the villages on Tutuba Island less than a kilometer from Bokissa. The people of Tutuba are the traditional owners of Bokissa and lease the entire island to the Bokissa resort. Staff live in their own quarters adjacent to the resort and have a natural and long standing interest in making sure that you and all your belongings are perfectly secure and safe at all times.

Vanuatu traditional law, backed by the diligence of the custom owners, also protects the flora and fauna of the island and the adjacent coral reefs.
